Drop_of_water

Wow. We did it!

Together we broke a record. Last week, we raised a record-breaking $41,635.88. This will help ThirstRelief save 8,327 lives by providing access to safe, clean drinking water.

You Deserve the Credit.

Whether you volunteered to be a mentor, bid on a mentor, tweeted, Facebooked, blogged, or simply told a friend about the auction, this would not have been possible without YOU. Thank you.

We’re humbled and honored by you.

Warmly,

Carlos Baez, The Teams at ShootQ and ThirstRelief

Our 7th Wedding Anniversary.

post written on 18 Jan 10 in Uncategorized

January 18th is our 7th wedding anniversary. Alison and I have been so blessed with many things these past 7 years. Our boys Carson and Cameron, now 4 and 2 1/2, great family and friends, and a great church in Trinity Episcopal Cathedral of Miami. Love for my wife, children, family, career, and all my friends, continues to grow with every moment. Would not change one thing in my life, other then wishing my father were around to see my boys grow.

My father Ramon, who past away on April 1st,2005. He would have loved our boys so much. He wore that corduroy jacket from 1970 over his tux, due to the fact it was 36 degrees during our outdoor reception in Miami.

My wife Alison, woman extraodinaire, photographer also

post written on 27 May 09 in Family, Uncategorized, personal

While I was in studio shooting for one of my fashion clients, Alison, Carson and Cameron showed up to say hello to daddy, but also to catch up with our friends in the photography team. While at the studio, Alison grabbed one of my cameras and started following the boys while they were burning off some energy, and doing their best to distract the models during my shoot. I think the boys wanted to start their modeling careers, let’s see about that. They definitely have mommy’s good looks and hair.boysatphotopia

Breast Cancer Event raises $10,000

Fashion event highlights breast cancer awareness

By Laura Burdick-Sherman | Special Correspondent
November 4, 2007

After surviving surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy, parading down a fashion runway in a private label gown wasn’t difficult for six South Florida breast cancer survivors.

The women helped raise $10,000 for breast cancer awareness during Ever After Miami’s Susan G. Komen For the Cure’s Passionately Pink for the Cure.

“I thought it was absolutely fantastic,” said Judy Celender, 58, a cancer survivor from Coral Springs. “I had no idea it would be such an overwhelming feeling. My emotions were skyrocketing.”

Celender has endured a 14-year battle with breast cancer, including a dozen biopsies, treatments, a bilateral mastectomy and 15 subsequent surgeries.

Susan Cassone, a survivor who lives in Lighthouse Point, has been cancer-free for a year after being diagnosed in 2005 and undergoing a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, radiation and intravenous drug therapy.

She said the fashion show was a wonderful experience.

“The whole time I was going through this, I put it in the background and never really gave myself credit for going through it with dignity,” said Cassone, manager for teacher certification for the Broward County School Board. “This was a celebration for me to acknowledge that.”

Both women said they plan to continue working for breast cancer awareness.

“I want women to know if you get it, you can through it,” Cassone said. “You don’t have to be suffering and ashamed. It’s not the end of the world. My life has changed in a positive way as a result of this.”

Camille Thiry Russler, owner of Ever After Miami, said she came up with the idea for the event after her great-grandmother, grandmother, mother-in-law and sister-in-law were stricken with the disease.

“We were able to raise funds and awareness for a very valuable foundation as well as celebrate six inspirational women for their courage, strength and grace and for ultimately conquering a dreadful disease,” she said. Each winner received a unique Ever After Evening gown designed by in-house designer Renato Armijo, hair and makeup by Mario Ortega of Oribe, and fashion photography by Carlos Baez.

Thiry Russler said she is already planning next year’s event and accepting sponsor offers.

Back to the Prom!

post written on 01 Jun 07 in Uncategorized

Last night we were blessed enough to donate our services for the First Prom Ever for 19 students of The Village South. Sharing such a special moment in their lives meant a lot to us. It is great to see so many happy young faces heading for better lives.

Much fun was had by all. Cheryl Patella and her staff of volunteers put on an amazing event. Catering services were supplied by Chef Creole and music by Power 96.

For over thirty (30) years, The Village has been providing comprehensive (holistic) multidimensional treatment to adults and adolescents, males and females, suffering from chemical dependency, mental illness, dual disorders, delinquency and related behavioral problems. Each year, more than 1000 adolescents, adults and/or their families, most of whom are indigent, receive clinical services at The Village.

Please support The Village.
