PDN April 2009 Top Knots

post written on 09 Apr 09 in Fashion, Learning, Portraits, Weddings, published

We don’t enter too many competitions, so when we do get chosen, it’s nice to be recognized like in this months Photo District News April 2009 Top Knots Contest. The bridal portrait is of our 2007 bride Jennifer Jimenez Perez, an attorney in Miami, but still a diva in front of the camera. Thank you Jennifer for being such a great bride and model. The fabulous dress was from Ever After Miami.

Editorial shoot with Crystal

post written on 07 Apr 09 in Fashion, Learning, personal

My first love in photography, and where I started my career,  was fine art. Soon after it became fashion, that was 1985.  24 years later, I still love what I do, photography as a whole. Mixing and meshing my different styles and loves that I have for photography, it’s my Fashion Fusion Style.

I did this editorial shoot with Crystal, in 90 minutes, the day before she left on assignment to China for 3 months of modeling. Crystal Glidden is a young woman with a great future in the modeling and acting world. Keep your eye out for her. We had the most perfect weather, a photographers dream.

I hope you enjoy the images and find inspiration in your own work, to continue with what you started, and what made you pick a camera in the first place.

Fashion shoot in Paris

post written on 02 Apr 09 in Fashion, Learning, Videos

This was a fun fashion shoot we did while we were on assignment in Paris a few months ago.

Our model Bibiana was originally from Spain, but was raised in Paris, fun.

Tatjana Terzic did an amazing job on hair and makeup.

We got lucky and got perfect weather, enjoy the short video, I know we did making it.

Today’s wedding photography market is competitive, and shooting with available light is simply not enough to separate your imagery in the market place. With many photographers’ images looking the same, how can you stand out? Fashion photography is consistently molding what the savvy client is expecting. With the use of many types of lighting, your images can stand out and bring a new edge to your style.

About Carlos:
Having worked in fashion and editorial photography for over 20 years, Carlos knows that every diva has her day, and that being a supermodel is having a certain state of mind, not a certain look.

His fashion fusion style has also made him one of the most sought after exclusive wedding photographers.

He has photographed the superstars of fashion, entertainment and sports. He has been published in iconic women’s magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, W, and has shot for advertisers like Revlon, BMW, and Sony records.

Livebooks Webinar on Tuesday, November 11th

post written on 06 Nov 08 in Learning

I am excited to announce that I will be on Livebooks Webinar series next Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 Time: 2:00 PM EST (11am PST) Duration: 1 hour.

Carlos Baez “See the Light-Passion, Fashion, and Inspiration”

While I was speaking on this topic at Pictage’s Partner Con in Los Angeles this past September, my good friend J. Sandifer asked me to participate in this webinar series for Livebooks. I’ve known J. now for 7 years, one of the nicest guys in the business, and a big reason I am a Livebooks client.

Feel free to log on and listen, and there will be some time for you to ask me questions at the end. I look forward to sharing with all of you as much as I can from my 23 years in the industry.

Here is little of what I will be talking about:
It takes more than numbers to keep yourself going in the wedding market, it takes deep rooted passion, knowing your style; where you came from and where you want to go. Don’t end up as a photographer having a “break down” due to lack of inspiration. Finding and listening to your inner voice can keep you going with as much energy and vigor as you did the first time you picked up a camera.
