A lot of you have asked about the images we shot for Camille Russler at Ever After Miami last year, we had posted the video, but not the photographs, as those were being held for the official website launch for the store Ever After Miami. So here are some of our favorite images from the shoot. Hope you like them as much as we do. Also, I included the video from the shoot again, I love how it came out. Thanks to my friend Julien at Merge Studios.
I’ve worked with Crystal a few times and each time we have more fun. This was a shoot we did late last year. I only shot 2 1/2 minutes of video on the Canon 5D Mark II, and my friend Curt Apanovich edited together the fusion video, below the images. The video was my opener at the New Orleans Partner Con Conference this past November. Enjoy!
Summer is a model I love to work with, she gets it. Not only that, she’s a genius, getting her biology degree from the University of Miami. She also tutors other students on campus. This is just one of many projects that Summer and I have collaborated on. Oh, and by the way, right when I took that last shot on the “bottom”, two guys broke into my truck, smashing the window, stealing her purse, and slashing my tire. Hey, “but” I got the shot.
I’ve been asked by many a client and photographer to show more of my “personal work”. So this is one of many new posts coming that will share with you, my readers, images and insight of my work other then weddings. This shoot in particular was of Oleksandra while I was up in Chicago. It’s funny what you can accomplish in less than an hour. Oleksandra is the epitome of confidence and sensuality that most of strive for, or at least want to once in a while. The trust she had in me allowed us to bring out in her what she’s always wanted, freedom. Enjoy her freedom.
Here is a photo shoot we collaborated on with Camille from Ever After Salon in Coconut Grove and Julien Diaz for Merge Studios. I’ve been working with Camille on all her photo shoots for over 7 years now. Major location, major models, and a major team = Major Shoot! Every one ROCKED IT, including Catalina Ayubi who is partner in my studio. Julien is a very talented film maker and he did an amazing job of mixing that cinematic look with documentary film making to capture this amazing shoot. Thanks to everyone that helped out and ENJOY THE VIDEO!!! Leave some love below in the comments.
At the top of the blog are the tabs for the new Chicago Workshop for October 13th, 2009, or press here FOR REGISTRATION or here FOR PAST WORKSHOP IMAGES AND TESTIMONIALS. Here are some of my personal images from the workshop this past August that many of you have asked about. I didn’t shoot that much since I was teaching and wanting the attendees to get as much shooting as they can during the workshop. Please check out the attendees images on the links above, hope you can join me at the next workshop in 3 weeks. You can also see what my kids were up to at the bottom of this post.
And while I was teaching the workshop, this is what my family was doing in Chiacgo. Everyone having fun that day!
In August the Baez Family went up to Kalamazoo, Michigan for my wife Alison’s high school reunion. We are blessed with great friends like Renato Armijo for Ever After Miami who made Alison’s dress custom. Alison’s purse is from the collection of our November bride, Laura Pimental, and her purse line LaLucca. Shoes by Badgley Mischka. Man, my wife is hot. This was the first time I met all her high school friends, they were all so sweet, and crazy, love it.
I have to say, I love Michigan in the summer, I’ve only been in the dead of winter, and it’s not much fun, unless you like LOTS of snow and really cold temperatures, like 15 degrees. We spent some time at Alison’s sisters house in Grand Haven on Lake Michigan, the boys had a blast with their cousins. You have to love the view from their house at the top of the bluff.
I love when the stars become aligned. This shoot with Sarah came about quite simply. She contacted me that she just moved to Miami and wanted to meet and shoot. So she came by the house the next day to chat and her confidence and enthusiasm were so compelling, that I said let’s shoot now. With no hair and makeup, we decided to stay simple and capture her true beauty. I think the images speak for themselves. She’s doing quite well modeling in NY now. Thank you Sarah for the inspiration.
One of my clients that I have been shooting for 8 years, still likes to shoot film and polaroid. I have no problem with, since I’ve been shooting film for over 20 years. It’s still fun to pull that Polaroid out of the Hasselbald back and wait. This short film was all done on the Canon 5D MarkII, shot and edited by Jason Jerusalem. Thanks Jason.
My mission as a photographer is to continue my diverse loves of photography. What’s great about being based in fashion, commercial, and fine art, most of that work is during the week. This leaves the weekends for the fantastic weddings we do have. This also allows my personal vision to continue to grow as a photographer which translates into a broader vision on any project.
The image below of model Jessica was for the cover of a catalog that I have been shooting for years. I’ll try to post the cover after it’s printed.
On this post, you won’t believe some of the details, pay attention to how much the shoes were. Thank you to my team of Catalina, Jason, Tracy and Paulina. Thank you to everyone at Ever After, Camille, Renato, Leah, and Denver, it sure helped in the alluring photographs. I will let Camille Russler of Ever After in Miami describe it best it her own words.
Shoes- Custom one of a kind celebrity status Shoe By Christian Louboutin made in Paris. Personal shopping by Stylist Camille Russler. Krishna wanted nothing but the best, my vision for her was a double platform fully custom Prive shoe with the bridal blue sole. Priceless at $5,000. When her Fabulous shoes arrived in the states they had celebrity stylists heads turning. I am so thrilled to have made Krishna’s Cinderella moment Now I am privileged to offer custom Louboutins exclusively at my boutique Ever After.
Dress – Custom Gown designed by Oscar de la Renta carried exclusively at my boutique Ever After. This gown is said to be the most sought after gown in Bridal Couture for 2009, the piece is pin pleated silk taffeta and dramatically pleated organza skirt. Krishna first saw her gown in electric blue at was showcased on trunk show at Ever After and it was love at first sight! She envisioned a gown for royalty and Oscar created an extended 50 inch custom train and skirt, now totaling 12 feet, to bring her dream alive. I designed a complimentary veil for her over the top gown, layers of tulle and organza delicately placed crystals to create an illusion of a soft glow as she entered her ceremony, styled with 5 elaborately designed hairpieces together they were the essential accessories for her Spectacular look!
This photo shoot was for one of my 2007 wedding clients, Gil Dezer, who is one of the owners of a members only driving club, The Palm Beach Driving Club . We shot 6 cars in studio one Sunday afternoon in December. Don’t forget to check out the behind the scenes video below the images.
We don’t enter too many competitions, so when we do get chosen, it’s nice to be recognized like in this months Photo District News April 2009 Top Knots Contest. The bridal portrait is of our 2007 bride Jennifer Jimenez Perez, an attorney in Miami, but still a diva in front of the camera. Thank you Jennifer for being such a great bride and model. The fabulous dress was from Ever After Miami.
My first love in photography, and where I started my career, was fine art. Soon after it became fashion, that was 1985. 24 years later, I still love what I do, photography as a whole. Mixing and meshing my different styles and loves that I have for photography, it’s my Fashion Fusion Style.
I did this editorial shoot with Crystal, in 90 minutes, the day before she left on assignment to China for 3 months of modeling. Crystal Glidden is a young woman with a great future in the modeling and acting world. Keep your eye out for her. We had the most perfect weather, a photographers dream.
I hope you enjoy the images and find inspiration in your own work, to continue with what you started, and what made you pick a camera in the first place.
This is from a recent shoot we did for Camille Thiry Russler at Ever After Miami. I have shot their advertising for several years, they are so much fun to work with. We were using the dresses from the movie Sex in the City, which in turn Ever After were using for an event that evening in their showroom .Video was shot by our own Jason Jerusalem on the new 5D Mark II. Same with the images I shot that are in the film.
Here’s some lost footage we found from 7 years ago! Different shoots we did (an online calendar, Ocean Drive, People en Espanol, and CD cover for Luis Fonsi) over 1 month in 2000.
I guess we were ahead of our time with video. Now we have a platform to show it here, and on our new website soon to come.
